Accessibility statement

Golden Hint aims to work for everyone. Our target, what we have done, what is not right yet, and how to ask for help or another format.

Golden Hint is for everyone who wants to start or run a charity. That includes people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, people who use screen readers, people who need larger text, and people who find movement on screen distracting or uncomfortable.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens another site) at level AA. WCAG is the international standard for making websites usable by people with disabilities. Level AA is the level most organizations aim for.

What we have done

We build Golden Hint so that:

  • Keyboard users can reach and use every link, button and form, and can always see where they are on the page.
  • Screen reader users get clear headings, labeled form fields, meaningful link text and page structure that makes sense when read aloud.
  • People who prefer less motion see animations turned off when their device is set to reduce motion.
  • People who need large text can zoom or increase text size without content being cut off or overlapping.
  • Everyone gets plain, short writing, with technical terms explained the first time they appear.

You can also choose light or dark mode, and the site remembers your choice.

What is not right yet

We would rather tell you than have you find out the hard way.

  • Spanish covers core pages only so far. Some guides and tools are in English only. We are adding more.
  • Downloadable templates are RTF files. RTF (Rich Text Format) files open in Microsoft Word and most other word processors, but they may not carry all the accessibility features of the web page. If a template does not work with your assistive technology, ask us for another format.

Ask for help or another format

If something on Golden Hint is hard to use, or you need a guide or template in another format, please tell us. We are glad to help.

  • Email hello@goldenhint.com
  • Tell us which page or file, what you were trying to do, and what would help.

We will reply as soon as we can, and within 30 days at the latest.

Keeping it right

We check accessibility when we add or change pages. If you find a problem we have missed, your message helps everyone who comes after you.
