Governance

Who decides, who pays, and who holds us to account

People only give their time to a platform they trust. Here's how Golden Hint is run.

Who runs Golden Hint

Golden Hint is an initiative of the Rouben Malian Memorial Foundation Inc, a New York nonprofit corporation, recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation's Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for it, and it sits within the Foundation's legal, financial and reporting obligations.

How it's paid for

The Foundation funds Golden Hint in full. Charities never pay to use it, and there are no ads. Funders and companies can support the sector through sponsored credit pools and partnerships; those are grants of time and support, never a way to buy influence over the platform's rules or a charity's reviews.

How decisions are made

  • The credit rules are set by the Foundation, reviewed by its legal and tax advisers, and published in full. Changes come with 30 days' notice.
  • Content is written and reviewed by the Golden Hint editorial team. Every page shows when it was last reviewed, and its sources.
  • Moderation follows our published community guidelines, and anyone affected by a decision can ask for a second look by someone who wasn't part of the first.

Technology and data

The site runs on Cloudflare. Caldrion LLC provides the website's technical platform and the system the team uses to answer messages, acting only on the Foundation's instructions. We never sell data. See the privacy policy and how we use member data.

Reporting

Once Golden Hint has a full year of exchanges, we'll publish an annual impact report: hours exchanged, the kinds of help given, and an honest estimate of the value created, including what didn't work.
